I just wanted to first of all explain what they are for those who aren’t familiar with HUT and then also share my thoughts on them being added to the game, including what I’ve got out of them so far.
HUT Division Title Reward Packs
For those unaware of how HUT works, there are 10 divisions with the 10th being the lowest and 1st being the highest. Each division consists of 10 games and requires a certain number of points(2 for a win, 1 for a OT/SO loss) to advance to the next division or be held in your current division. If you don’t reach either target then you will be relegated to the previous division.
Division Title Rewards Packs include:
- Any active and available Bronze jerseys, logos, coaches or collectibles.
- Any active and available Silver jerseys, logos, coaches or collectibles.
- Any active and available Gold items.
There are three tiers of packs:
- NHL Rewards Pack – For winning division titles in Online HUT Seasons Division 1 or 2
- AHL Rewards Pack – For winning division titles in Online HUT Seasons Division 3, 4, 5 or 6
- CHL Rewards Pack – For winning division titles in Online HUT Seasons Division 7, 8, 9, or 10
Higher division packs have increased chances of getting better reward items.
*Reward pack items are untradeable

What I Got
I’ve earned two Elite Division 1 Title Packs so far and here’s what I’ve got from them:
Yeah nothing that great for me so far except a Gold Collectible. I’ve seen other players getting 90+ players and even special cards such as TotW, PotG, etc. I’ll have to open more but I am hoping that 87+ players will be fairly common in Elite league title wins, I feel they should be to help out Free to Play.
HUT Playoff Champions Reward Packs
Again, for those who are unaware how HUT works; at the end of every month there are HUT playoffs available that last a few days. In order to win the playoff cup you need to win 4 consecutive games. If you manage to do that then you will get some coins and now a Playoff Champions Reward Pack as well.
There is four different playoff cup tiers and their availability depends on the division you are in:
- Amateur Cup Reward Pack – 1 Gold Collectible and 1 Gold Rare Player
- Rookie Cup Reward Pack – 1 Carbon Collectible and 2 Rare Gold Players
- Pro Cup Reward Pack – 2 Carbon Collectibles and 1 87+ Player
- Elite Cup Reward Pack – 2 Carbon Collectibles and 1 random Inform Player
What is a HUT Inform Player?
An inform player card is any special non-base card so think Player of the Game(PotG), Team of the Week(TotW), Heroes, Movembers, etc.
So yes, it’s most certainly worth doing the Playoffs now!
What I Got
Oh wait… I didn’t get anything from the playoffs because I choked! I failed all of you and I apologize.
What the hell is that? Seriously, I feel like I need to go read all my own guides again. I didn’t deserve a HUT Champions pack after that late breakdown. Yes, that play did end up leading to the GWG.
Next month I promise I’ll bring us home a cup… After that above travesty you’ll probably find me in the Rookie Cup bracket I can’t even joke about that – I won’t rest until I’m raising the Elite cup!
I know you get two chances in the playoffs too… I don’t wanna talk about it. 97 Heatley 48 seconds left… That’s all I’ll say.
My Overall Thoughts on Reward Packs
I love that they added rewards for actually winning in HUT. Unfortunately, I had just finished grinding my free to play run from Div 10 to the Div 1 title the day before they released this update(not even kidding), but that just made me realize even more how necessary these reward packs are.
Originally, I was going to write a post on my free to play journey from Div 10 to Div 1 and one of the main points was going to be that you simply don’t get enough coins to build a team that can be on the same level overall rating wise as even the average pay to play team. Yes, if you save up all your coins and only spend them in the auction house you could get several decent 88+ players BUT opening the packs is half the fun of HUT! You can’t deprive free to play players from that just so they can have a competitive team.
With all that said, the Online Seasons and Playoff Champions Packs totally change the game for free to play players. If you manage to make it all the way to Div 1 you will be able to earn better and better players along the way without spending any coins or money so you can either open some packs with your coins or save them up for a specific player you’re really wanting.
So, if you’ve been holding off on HUT because you’re thinking it’s pay to win only then now is definitely your chance to give it a shot and join in on the fun, it will actually be fun 🙂
See ya in the Auction House!
